Tipi Treats

It's December so it's time to get festive and eat ALL the food. We headed to Vallum Farm where they are serving Sunday Lunch in a tipi - complete with lots of twinkly lights and fire pit in the middle. What could be more festive than that?!

We have long been fans of Vallum Farm and their locally sourced food so when we were invited to the launch of pop-up dining inside their tipi, we couldn’t wait to see what was in store.

A cosy space greats you when you enter the tipi. Lovely decor and friendly staff, and super comfy benches to sit on.

We liked the fact that there’s no faffing around with too many menu options. We were told that the starters and desserts will frequently change as the chefs are enjoying using winter to experiment. When we visited the starter was hot smoked salmon, Carroll’s heritage pink fir potatoes, dill and caper dressing. Sunday Lunch is priced at £13.50 for one course, £18.50 for 2 courses or £22.50 for 3 courses. For children they do half portions which are £10.50 for 2 courses.

Sunday Lunch in Tipi Vallum Farm

The hot smoked salmon sharing starter was incredible – some of the best we’ve tasted. Our 4 year old and 9 month old were even fans!

The main event though was the Sunday Lunch, and boy did it deliver. No over-cooked beef here; it was succulent, tender and delicious. The pork and crackling was superb too, with a nice selection of veggies, stuffing balls and massive yorkshires.

Little Dude and I shared a trio of desserts, which included some delicious little eclairs with hazelnuts on top, a chocolate brownie and a sticky almond topped traybake which had a cheesy aftertaste – it wasn’t on the menu so I’m not sure exactly what was in it! The first two were our favourites.

Mr TLC was well catered for in the dairy-free category with a vegan brownie, sorbet and dates.

We found Vallum’s Tipi a great little space for a lovely relaxed Sunday Lunch. Somewhere to relax and unwind amidst the craziness of the festive season. The tipi that can be hired for weddings has been transformed into a chic, cosy space for Sunday Lunch. From December to March they’ll be hosting Chef nights, private events and Sunday Dinner.
